Another Butte Fire community, Mountain Ranch, will hold their Christmas in the Country bake sale, craft fair and luncheon, beginning at 9:00am at the town hall. Those looking for a snowy high country experience may want to be in Dorrington for carriage rides and tree lighting, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Dorrington Hotel. It is also opening day for Bear Valley Mountain ski resort, and storms this week are expected to bring a fresh layer of snow to the mountains.

Mark your calendars for the following weekend as Murphys gets all dressed up Friday, December 4 for the Holiday Open House and Parade. Shops stay open late, offering holiday treats and the streets are filled with locals and visitors celebrating the season. Also kicking off this evening is the Holiday Festival of Wines, with many of the town’s wineries offering music, small bites and big sales!  The festival will continue through the weekend at participating wineries.

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau has just released its 2015 Holiday Shopping Guide to help visitors better navigate the diverse retail experiences around the county. In addition to the businesses listed in the guide, many of the region’s retailers will be participating in the nation-wide promotion for local small businesses, known as Small Business Saturday, with special events and discounts.
