Five Reasons Local Businesses Should Join the Calaveras Visitors Bureau

Posted : November 14, 2012

New “Friends of the CVB” Opportunity Available for Individuals too

Businesses are welcome to join the Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) throughout the year, but the deadline for members to be included in the 2013 Activities Guide—which  is distributed to more than 80,000 people throughout the year—is Friday, November 30, which makes now the ideal time to join.

Beyond being included in the popular Activities Guide, CVB annual membership, now offered in various tiers to better accommodate everyone in the region, is important for local businesses, organizations and individuals for the following reasons:

  1. The CVB is your marketing firm –The number one priority of the CVB is promoting the area, its lodging, attractions, restaurants, wineries and other important businesses so that the region, and everything it offers, is top of mind for potential visitors.  Through an interactive Website, extensive event calendar, blogging, participation on various social media outlets, regular press outreach and more, the CVB spreads the word far and wide about its members and this premiere travel destination.
  1. Bring customers directly to your business – All CVB members that join at the Bronze Membership level or higher receive a 30 word listing in the annual Activities Guide, listing and direct link to your business from GoCalaveras.com, VIP discount card program participation, listing on the NorCal Travel Guide App, brochures distributed at the Visitors Center and priority for blog post mentions and media pitches throughout the year.
  1. Participate in regional partnerships – The CVB also leverages member marketing dollars by teaming up with other organizations in the region like the Gold Country Visitors Association and High Country Visitors Association, to attract visitors to the area through collaborative travel show participation, regional press releases and media familiarization (FAM) tours.
  1. Have your voice heard – One business on its own may not have much pull when it comes to changing the way things are done, but nearly 200 voices together and a CVB board that represents all the tourism-related industries in the community, can go much further together.  And while all members may not see eye to eye on every issue that comes to the table in the area, the CVB does provide a way for your voice to be heard and considered.
  1. Keep the area’s economic engine thriving – Currently, the county sees approximately $148 million annually in traveler spending.  By becoming a member of the CVB, businesses and individuals help keep the area’s number one industry thriving by bringing new tourism dollars to the area through member-supported destination marketing.
