         CVB Update

Hello Calaveras Visitors Bureau Partners and Friends!

We hope Frog Jump Week is off to a great start for you all.  By the looks and sounds of things here, it’s going to be another busy week for Calaveras County!

We are right in the middle of National Travel and Tourism Week and we hope you’ll stop in the Visitors Center to help us celebrate!  Come by and get a free I Love Travel button and some snacks as well!

The CVB is looking to fill three board vacancies for the 09/10 and 10/11 fiscal years.  If you are interested, please submit a short (200 words or less) biography to lisa@gocalaveras.com by Friday, June 5th.  The biography will be part of the ballot that is sent out to the voting membership.  Board members are required to be members of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau.  The board meets once a month and is also asked to be available for support at various CVB functions.

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau will be offering a workshop led by Shellie Cook who is our California Travel and Tourism Commission Representative for the Gold Country Region.  Shellie will be sharing with us all the information we need to leverage our marketing dollars by participating in various CTTC programs.  There are many FREE opportunities out there, so you’ll want to be sure to attend and see how you can effectively market your business at little or no cost.  Shellie will be including information on the Land of Wine and Food Campaign, which was brought up at the recent Foodie Tourism workshop.  This workshop will be FREE  and will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30 pm.  The location is TBD but will most likely take place in Angels Camp.

Last month, we held a Foodie Tourism Workshop led by Brian Baker of Cultivar Marketing.  It was well received and a new foodie program for Calaveras County is well underway.  If you missed the presentation, you can view it here, but you must have Power Point in order to download it.

There are still a couple spots left if you’d like us to take your brochures to Sunset Celebration Weekend at Sunset Magazine Headquarters in Menlo Park.  The cost is just $50 to send 100 brochures.  Please submit your brochures with payment to the Visitors Center by Friday, May 29th.

Calaveras is in the news!  Check out the recent coverage we’ve been enjoying!

We hope to see you out at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee this week!  We’ll have a booth in Mark Twain Hall.
