This Saturday, Feb. 18 and Sunday, February 19 marks the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance’s 16th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend.
So what makes this Murphys wine tasting weekend better than any other weekend? Presidents’ Wine Weekend is two full days of exclusive tastings, food galore and wine discounts for just $10 per person (and you get a commemorative glass too). Pick yours up at the Calaveras Visitors Bureau before heading up the hill. Not to mention, many of you have Monday off to recover from all that goodness. Thanks, George!
According to the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance, here’s what you can expect from some of the area’s hot spots…
We’re talking Hatcher’s infamous pulled pork sandwiches with house-made coleslaw; Stevenot Tasting Room’s local home-made sausages on sourdough French bread along with assorted appetizers and cheese platter; all-American fare at Chatom Vineyards; Milliaire Winery’s savory meatballs, tapenades and chocolates; home-made brownies at Broll Mountain Vineyards; Bordeaux wine and chocolate pairings at Coppermine; appetizers, wine futures and live music at Chiarella; and Val du Vino’s heart-warming smoked turkey gumbo with corn bread — a perfect pairing to their newly-released Reserve 2009 Spanish Dragon. Also at Val du Vino – Chocolatiere Andrea will display her own chocolate confection Ciocco. Frog’s Tooth will be serving meatballs marinated in cranberries and Tempranillo, music by Nick Lefler and will be having a parking lot case sale of up to 40 percent off. Tanner Vineyards will be offering their savory sausages, a cheese tasting and raspberry brownies.
