This year’s Annual Dinner & Innovations in Tourism Awards will be more fun than ever!

2016 CVB Annual Dinner invitationOur dinner for 2016 is being hosted by the historic Hotel Léger in Mokelumne Hill – one of only two continuously operating historic hotels in the County. Just like the Murphys Historic Hotel, the Hotel Léger is reputedly haunted, so keep an eye open for anything potentially paranormal during the evening 🙂

If you haven’t eaten at the Hotel Léger, you’re in for a treat. Their cuisine is on par with the best restaurants in Murphys. For our dinner, they are offering appetizers at the Saloon, followed by a sampler plate in the Banquet Room. See menu below.

We are excited to bring you to this new location – especially if it’s been a while since you visited Mokelumne Hill because tourism there is really starting to hop. It’s one of the charming destination towns in Calaveras that never disappoints our visitors and we think it will become one of your favorites too.

Renegade Winery, which has opened a tasting room in the historic downtown will be pouring wine at the event. RSVP by calling 209.736.0049. Cost is $40 per person for CVB members, $45 per person for non-CVB members.

2016 Innovations in Tourism

As usual, we will be awarding Innovations in Tourism Awards to businesses that we and our member businesses have found inspiring over the last year. There’s a lot of great innovation going on in Calaveras so competition is pretty tight and you might have a hard time deciding between the nominations on the Innovations in Tourism Ballot below. Join us to find out who wins in each category and which business takes home the coveted top business award. This part of the event will be the finale to the whole evening, and is the most inspiring part of the event.

New for 2016, we’re introducing the “Calaveras Craniacs Challenge.” This year in preparing for the dinner, we started out with a goal to make the evening more fun and interactive. Our marketing committee came up with the idea for a pub quiz style contest with multiple choice questions. Here’s how it will work:

  • Each guest will be on a team of 4-5 people
  • Each team must come up with a team name
  • Questions will be on obscure Calaveras County facts (that we really don’t expect you to know the answers to) with a few tourism questions thrown in
  • Correct answers will be hidden in a choice of three answers
  • Each team chooses which answer they think is most likely correct (or least likely to be incorrect)
  • At the end of the contest, the team with the highest number of correct answers wins a Calaveras gift basket for each of their teammates containing these wonderful, locally produced items sourced from all over the county:
CALAVERAS CRANIACS PRIZES: What's in each basket.
ANGELS CAMPA bottle of Mineral Wines’ Meritage blend with wine glass
