Logging Museum Opens – April 1, White Pines, not Arnold

Arnold’s timber industry is on display at the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum at White Pines Lake. Check out the amazing woodwork and model replicas of lumber mills and logging camps, and the vintage chainsaws are undeniably cool too! Saturday April 1 marks opening day for the season, and they’ll be open from 12:00pm – 4:00pm,Thursdays through Saturdays through the fall.

Spring Photo Contest – New Melones Lake

Win two nights camping and maybe even an annual pass to New Melones Recreation Area with their first annual spring photography contest! During the months of April and May, the public is invited to bring their cameras and capture images of the natural beauty and scenery in the area and visitor recreation activities, categories include Landscape, Flora/Fauna, and Recreation, and all images must be from 2017. Whiskerino Dinner Dance – April 8, Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Angels Camp

It’s the annual kick off event leading up to the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, and a fine tradition of whisker competitions and gold rush attire. Swing on down and party with the locals as we head into Fair season!

Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride – April 15, Feeney Park, Murphys
Mr Frog’s is an annual fun cycling ride and the perfect way to tour the rolling hills of Calaveras County. All proceeds benefit Feeney Park, a non-profit community sports and recreational facility in Murphys, offering youth soccer and baseball fields, skate park, walking trails, picnic areas, a disc golf course, plus an amphitheater.

 

Eggapalooza and Spring Fest – April 15, Copper Town Square, Copperopolis
Bring the family to Copper Town Square and kick off Easter weekend with egg hunts for the kids, 11:00am – 12:00pm, and photos with the Easter Bunny, 12:00pm – 2:00pm.  There will be plenty of games and contests for kids and free Easter goodies – and delicious bites, shopping specials and fun for the entire family.

Calaveras Air Fair – April 22, Calaveras County Airport, San Andreas
Like planes? Then don’t miss this April favorite. It’s a day of fancy planes, entertainment and your chance to take the family for a plane ride for just a few dollars. Think of it like a car show for airplanes, where plane owners from around the region fly in for the day and line up on the tarmac for spectators to admire and step inside.  Meanwhile, local pilots will be ferrying passengers up into the sky for short rides and throughout the day experimental and specialty planes will be performing flyovers.   Admission is free, with a small fee for plane rides. Interpretive Events at New Melones Lake – Mulitple Dates
