Ready to celebrate the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway? Sponsored by the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association, the quintessentially Californian Hermitfest is an early-fall music festival that celebrates this gorgeous place we call home!  Hermitfest takes place in Hermit Valley in the Stanislaus National Forest, 38 miles east of Arnold and 23 miles west of Markleeville on the North Fork of the Mokelumne River. Featuring outdoor performances by an array of local musicians, music starts at 11:00 am, and officially ends at 8:00 pm. But don’t pack up your bags just yet. The joyful celebration of this gorgeous stretch of Sierra-straddling highway often continues around the campfires late into the evening.

Held at the dramatic historic San Andreas Metropolitan, this fabulous annual event includes locally sourced award-winning, wines, cheeses, olive oils, live music and an art display, raffle and silent auction. Sponsored by the Calaveras Arts Council, the annual Artists Studio Tour is an open-studio event that encourages a close personal relationship between artists and art lovers. The two day event offers art collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to tour Calaveras County and see the diverse artwork of celebrated regional artists. You can set your own pace by using the self-guiding passport (provided free of charge at the Calaveras Arts Council Gallery on Main Street in San Andreas, CA as well as businesses and libraries throughout Calaveras County). The map inside the passport will guide you to sites where artists work or display their art. You will travel through Calaveras County back roads and country neighborhoods. Spread your trip over Saturday and Sunday for a leisurely journey to discover that Calaveras art is as enjoyable as its award-winning wine and charming gold rush towns.

The Blues and Bones Festival recipe: Combine the evocative sound of Blues music, stir in a little barbeque and add your family for a fun summer event everyone will enjoy. This annual event promises award-winning, slow-cooked barbecue for the truly discerning palate, and a fabulous lineup of national and local Blues artists over two days. It takes place at the beautiful Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp CA, where  you can lounge on the grass under the trees and watch the kids do cartwheels.  There’s also a Kid’s Area with activities scheduled throughout both days, a BBQ contest – you decide the winners, and wait. Is there beer? Oh yes, there’s beer too 😊. It’s an idyllic setting with the perfect combination of sounds and flavor. You might want to make it your annual family festival. Making it a weekend? The 23rd annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance is an antique and classic car show scholarship fundraiser that takes place each year at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, CA. Featuring some 300+ antique and classic cars as well as vintage trailers, motorcycles, wooden boats and–you guessed it–AMPHIBIOUS cars. Many drivers arrive dressed according to the era of their vehicle making this a particularly memorable and whimsical (not to mention super Instagrammable event). Wine + vintage vehicles + impeccable whimsy? Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
