Domaine Becquet Winery offers award winning wines with less alcohol, less oak from the barrel and very much in a European style, with great varietal flavors. The Becquet family has been in wine production for five generations, first in Bordeaux, France, and now in California. You don’t have to be an expert to know what you like. Roswitha recently attended a major wine tasting event in San Francisco. Eight sets of three wines had to be blind-tasted and the tasters had to find the French wines that were hidden among the California wines. This had nothing to do with the quality of the wine, but more with the “wine ethnicity” – based on the differences in alcohol levels, sugar content etc. between the French and California wines. Among some 120 “knowledgeable wine enthusiasts” tasting the wine at the event, Roswitha came in “first” with six findings out of a possible eight.
