For more than 20 years, the Mother Lode Daffodil Show has been hosted by Ironstone Vineyards which features a designated American Daffodil Society Display Garden. This must-see event for all daffodil enthusiasts is sponsored by the Northern California Daffodil Society and the Calaveras County Garden Club.
See thousands of gorgeous daffodils of all varieties in Ironstone Vineyards’ beautifully manicured gardens and for a long approach along the country road leading to the winery. At the entrance, you’ll be greeted by spectacular barrels of even more brightly blooming daffodils. In fact, Ironstone has more than 300,000 daffodils, many of which will be in bloom during this special event. But these are just appetizers.
On Saturday and Sunday, free admission allows access to horticultural exhibits in the Heritage Room – including daffodils brought for judging, artistic arrangements in the Jewelry Shop foyer and photography in the beautiful culinary center. In addition, exhibited daffodils will be offered for sale after 3:00 pm on Sunday.
For serious enthusiasts, you may enter your own daffodils for exhibition and judging by contacting Nancy Tackett. And you may wish to join other enthusiasts for the Friday Daffodil Celebration Evening at nearby CAMPS Restaurant in Angels Camp. If so, you will need to make reservations ahead of time with Bob Spotts.
On Saturday, the town of Murphys holds its annual Murphys Irish Day celebration with a full day of fun and entertainment. Be sure to book your lodging in Murphys well in advance because rooms sell out fast for these celebrations.
