Our Handy List Shows You Which Calaveras Wineries are the Big Award Winners
Those of us who have spent any amount of time in Calaveras tend to rave about our local wine scene. It’s affordable, approachable, innovative and beautiful and don’t get us started on how great the wines are. But even those of us in the know, may have picked a few and stayed with our tried and trusted faves over time.

So, we know there are some truly outstanding Calaveras wines that you probably haven’t tried yet and that’s why we put together our first annual “Calaveras County Wineries Awards & Accolades” list. We limited the awards to the last few years for each winery, but even so, the list spans 6 pages… giving you plenty of new wine ideas to sample in Calaveras County. And if you’ve been wondering which wineries are the big award-winners… well now you know.

So do yourself a favor, and come on out to Calaveras County this summer for some well-informed wine tasting. And while you’re here, consider purchasing a Calaveras Winegrape Alliance (CWA) Passport.
In what we think is a brilliant move, the CWA has restructured one of their annual events in a way that makes it far more appealing. The former Passport “weekend” event is now a year-long program offering exclusive deals and discounts at CWA member wineries. No longer will you have to cram in as much wine tasting as you can in one weekend to sample all the great deals. You can use your passport at your leisure for an entire year.
Here’s a preview of what to expect: At Brice Station Vineyards, not only do you get a 15% discount on tasting room wine sales, you also get free entrance to their entire 2014 Hill Top Summer Concert series— that’s 7 in all. Four Winds Cellars gives you complimentary tasting and 25% off wine purchases and Vina Moda is offering 10% off by the bottle, or 20% off by the case. All in all there are 22 participating wineries offering lots of incentives to visit their tasting rooms or vineyards and save.
We think the CWA Passport is going to be a hot commodity this year. The $65 cost gets you free admission to their fabulous, new Behind the Bottle event for 2014 (a $40 value) and if you purchase your passport after the dates of the event (June 20-22) you get free admission for 2015.
