CVB Announces New Membership Perks

Posted : November 12, 2013

Thinking about joining the CVB or renewing your membership for 2014?  Here are a few reasons why you might want to hop on board now…

We recently launched several new initiatives at our Annual Dinner that will benefit our members, including a locals’ incentive program called Frog Play, an interactive map for the Website that will launch soon, as well as a partnership with mobile website creator, mobiManage, that will allow members to develop their own mobile websites at an affordable monthly rate.

Frog PlayFrog Play, which had a soft launch at the CVB’s Annual Dinner, is a program designed to provide locals who reside in Calaveras, Tuolumne and Amador Counties with incentives to visit CVB member businesses, while at the same time, creating more foot-traffic and customers for those members.

More than a dozen businesses have already jumped on board (full list of current participants and discounts offered here). Locals in the tri-county area can visit these businesses and simply show a valid ID and provide an email to sign up for their Frog Play card, which will give them special discounts at restaurants, attractions, wineries and retail spots throughout Calaveras County.

“Not only is Frog Play a great way to get people in your door during some of the slower times of year, but it will encourage area residents to think local first,” said Lisa Boulton, Executive Director of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau. “As we head into a shoulder season for visitors, the CVB will continue to engage its members to help grow the list of Frog Play participants and the program overall.”

“The CVB staff will begin widely marketing Frog Play to locals within the month and it will continue to evolve and expand throughout 2014,” Boulton continued.

Businesses that would like to participate in Frog Play must be a member of the CVB. Enrollment information is available here.

Within the month, members can also expect to find their businesses on the CVB’s new interactive map with individual profiles that will include helpful info for visitors like reviews and social media links. Additionally, visitors will be able to create custom itineraries simply by clicking on each CVB member business they’d like to visit.

By the end of year, we will also launch our new mobile website. This advancement will help member businesses in two ways. First, at a time when more and more people are using their phones to make travel plans, it will give member businesses a broader online presence. But perhaps more exciting for members, will be the opportunity to launch their own mobile websites for only $15 per month as part of the CVB’s agreement with mobiManage, the company which developed the CVB’s mobile site.

“CVB membership has always been an extremely economical way for local businesses to invest their marketing dollars wisely,” said Boulton. “But now, more than ever, we’re offering incredible incentives for local businesses to get involved with the CVB, and ultimately, promote our area as a premiere vacation destination.”

While CVB membership is accepted year-round, local businesses or organizations that join or renew membership by Friday, November 29 will not only be able to take advantage of our new membership perks, but you’ll also be included in Calaveras County’s most important marketing piece—the 2014 Activities Guide. This year 80,000 copies of the Activities Guide will be printed and distributed. And new for 2013, we’ve also partnered with Certified Distribution, which will increase visibility for CVB members in the Bay Area by distributing 27,000 copies of the county’s destination guide to various San Jose and Santa Clara corporations and sports equipment dealers, as well as at the San Jose Airport.

Also available for businesses who haven’t previously been members of the CVB, is a one-year discounted introductory membership level, which offers the same benefits as a regular membership, but on a trial basis.
