Warming Hut. Open weekends from 12pm to 4pm.

Enjoy a hike and stop in at The Warming Hut! It’s a great place to warm up by a roaring fire on a cold day, and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage (tea, coffee, cider, or cocoa) served by friendly Docents. Donations are always welcome.

There will be a guided walk every Saturday at 1 pm (see separate event listing on this website calendar). Depending on the conditions, it may be a snowshoe walk. Calaveras Big Trees provides snowshoes at no charge. Check in early to reserve your space and shoes. If there is not enough snow for a snowshoe walk, make sure you have warm and waterproof shoes or boots. It is starting to get cold, so dress warmly.

When snow is present, Cross Country skiing is available if you have your own equipment.  A map is available at the Entrance Station or the Visitor Center that shows the trails you can explore.

Of course, snow play is always an option.  There are some gentle short slope areas that are used for kids sledding.  And of snowman building and snowball fights are always fun.
