Fall in Love with Calaveras Sweepstakes

Posted : March 27, 2015

This month we’re launching the second in our series of Fall in Love with Calaveras sweepstakes.   It’s all about the Calaveras County Fair and includes a fun filled weekend soaking up all the iconic Fair activities with behind the scenes access to the Frog Jump, Demolition Derby, Rodeo and…  backstage passes and VIP seating for Grammy winners Asleep at the Wheel!  Lodging has been provided at the Cottage at Littlewood Ranch, a short walk from downtown Angels Camp.   So spread the word to friends and family, or throw your own name in the hat, because some lucky winner is going to have an unforgettable inside look at the County Fair!

Our first sweepstakes, which was timed to coincide with Valentines Day, was a big hit with over 500 entries.  We got a chance to speak with winner Sandy Rappaport about her experience, which you can read below.

Sandy Rappaport and her family have owned a cabin in Arnold since 2007, where they come several times a year from their home in the Bay Area to enjoy the mountains.  Her family loves to ski, whereas Sandy tends to enjoy the spring and summer in the high country just a bit more.  The cabin is also a vacation rental  – “Dean Way Chalet” on vrbo.com – and Sandy says the best part of winning the February sweepstakes (which she learned about by viewing this winner video) is that she got to experience for the first time many of the things she promotes to her guests.   Now she can add personal referrals and the invaluable word of mouth to the brochures she provides to visitors.

Staying at the Black Bear Inn midweek they (the trip was for two, but she and her husband opted to bring along their kids as well) had the place nearly to themselves and while browsing the Inn’s wine selection she discovered Chatom.  The next day Sandy was at the Chatom tasting room, joined the wine club and walked out with a half case.   Our package kept the family busy – from the afternoon massages to a dinner at V Restaurant where they were treated like royalty – so much that Sandy didn’t have time to do her normal favorite activity, hiking.  But staying so close to the Arnold Rim Trail reminded her of that incredible resource and she says she’ll be sure to put trail maps and info in her rental for future guests.
