The 2014 CalTravel Summit has just wrapped up in Los Angeles and this year Calaveras’ wine industry made a special appearance thanks to our association with the Gold Country Visitors Association (GCVA). Recognized as the premier conference for tourism professionals, the annual event draws travel media and influential industry people, all with the goal of promoting unique travel experiences and destinations throughout the state.
In the middle of this year’s conference floor were two large banner stands promoting Gold Country wineries, with the same look and feel of the Gold Country 3-page advertising segment seen in the Visit California guides. And Calaveras County wineries were heavily featured in the included photographs.
As the official destination marketing organization (DMO) for Calaveras County, the CVB plays a key role in promoting the Gold Country region, contributing goods and creative services to the collective marketing efforts of the GCVA. This year, Ironstone Vineyards, a new GCVA Associate Member contributed two cases of wine to the media reception, as did the CWA through their alliance with the Calaveras Visitors Bureau. As part of the display, regional maps and brochures from all the participating wine industry stakeholders from El Dorado, Tuolumne, Placer, Amador and Calaveras counties were also featured.
The banner stands created for this event will be featured at additional events throughout the year giving additional exposure to Calaveras County wineries.
