Nothing kicks off the fall harvest like family fun, creative costumes, food, wine, and strolling into the past.  Every October people descend upon the historic gold rush town and up-and-coming wine destination of Murphys, CA to channel their inner Lucy and Ethel in a true, down and dirty grape stomp competition.

Competition is fierce but fun at Grape Stomp | Maria Camillo

At the Calaveras Grape Stomp, being held this year on Saturday, October 7th, teams of two—a Swabber and a Stomper—have exactly three minutes to try and stomp the most juice out of barrel of grapes for a chance to advance to the finals and win fabulous prizes.

Want to stomp?  Competitions are highly encouraged between businesses, organizations, friends, and schools, and on-line pre-registration for Calaveras Grape Stomp teams is strongly recommended as stomp competition spaces sell out well before the event. But don’t forget, the Calaveras Grape Stomp isn’t all about the stomp–bring those gams, but don’t forget the creative punch! Even if your team doesn’t stomp your way to the finals, you could take home the prize for best costume. This is where the real competition comes in…
