Arnold Area Festivals: Concerts in the Park

Take the Cedar Center Summer Music Contents series for instance. Here you’ll find entire families, plus the family dog, enjoying live music provided free on stage while their kids do cartwheels on the lawn in front of the band. And because we’re in wine country here, you can purchase wine from vendors at the concert along with freshly prepared food. Bring your lawn-chairs or blankets and feel free to kick up your heels. This is one casual, friendly event with lots of welcoming locals and thoroughly charmed visitors.

Arnold Area Festivals: Big Trees State Park

If you think an event among the giant sequoias at Calaveras Big Trees State Park would be magical, you’d be right. With two major events per year, the park makes an outstanding event location. Family Day in the summer, provides crafts, entertainment and fun education – aimed at engaging children and indeed it does. Who can resist meeting Smokey the Bear, learning about wild animals and meeting a ranger? And then in the snowy season, their Winter Wonderland event sells out fast for good reason. What could be more magical than riding on a horse-drawn wagon through giant sequoias?

Arnold Area Festivals: Logging Jamboree

For a well-treed mountain community, logging is usually part of the history and the Sierra Nevada Logging Jamboree in White Pines makes a fun festival from traditional logging techniques in the amphitheater at the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum. It’s a thrilling demonstration of skill and courage by amateurs and professionals, and it’s fabulously fun.
