Shopping: Angels Camp

Angels Camp’s classic Old West architecture in historic downtown makes for a pleasurable strolling shopping experience, where you can also take a break at the bakery, one of the restaurants, or the iconic Turners Wild West with its large selections of cowboy hats, boots, and all kinds of beautiful western gear. Some of our favorite shops here include Stories in Stones with its huge supply of beautiful minerals, geodes, fossils and Native American decorative items. For the rock hound in your group, this is a must-visit. You’ll also want to stop in at Crafty Chicks – home of The Crafty Chicks Road Show – for a one-of-a-kind gift for you or someone you love. Check out the full retail listings for Angels Camp for more.

Shopping: Murphys

Murphys might just offer one of the best small town shopping experiences in California. Known best for its two-dozen wine tasting rooms all within strolling distance, Murphys actually has more boutique shops. And the range of items  you can find here is just too numerous to list. As the culinary center of Calaveras, it’s no surprise you’ll find a spice shop and an olive oil and balsamic tasting room here. There’s also a kitchen shop with all the gadgets and goodies you need to create your best in the kitchen. There are locally created art and jewelry galleries, an independent book shop, needle-craft supplies, old fashioned toy store, apparel and accessories, even an antique bathroom fixtures shop.
