Planning a Vacation With Kids? Calaveras County Has You Covered

Calaveras with kids

Fun for the whole gang:  Gem mining, big trees and kid-friendly wineries

As Trekaroo.com’s Tina Buell recently discovered, escaping to Calaveras County with the kids is a no brainer.  And parents, you don’t have to sacrifice the adult perks, like luxury accommodations and wine tasting, either.

Tina and her family made their way from the rolling foothills of Copperopolis and Saddle Creek Golf Resort to the mountain town of Arnold, home of Big Trees State Park. Total distance traveled between the two?  Less than 35 miles.  An easy jaunt for those exploring with kids, especially when there’s plenty of stops and distractions along the way: Cavern tours, gem mining, hiking through Giant Sequoias, and wine tasting at kid-friendly wineries (to name just a few).

Start planning your next family vacation.  Read Tina’s trip recap here:  California’s Calaveras County With Kids: Family Fun in the Central Sierra Mountain Range.

  1. Calaveras County is a great place to relax and unwind but in a much different way than you might expect. Especially with kids! Being in the great outdoors, exploring, allows children to stimulate their imaginations.
