Motoshi Kosako: Principal harpist for the Stockton Symphony Orchestrra

Since its opening in 2011, Petroglyphe Gallery has been at the forefront of revitalization in historic downtown Mokelumne Hill, an emerging destination for art and music in Calaveras County. Venture into the heart of this picture-perfect gold rush town, and you will discover Petroglyphe Gallery’s restored 1858 gallery space on Main Street, directly across from the Hotel Léger. The gallery offers a wide selection of fine art, jewelry, and gifts created by local and regional artists. On Sunday, April 21 and Sunday, May 19 enjoy the unique opportunity to hear live music at Petroglyphe Gallery by attending one of their Spring Sunday Fine Art Concerts. These special events will feature world renowned musicians and will be preceded by a reception with light appetizers and wine to be served from 3:30 pm until the performance begins at 4 pm. Tickets for limited seating are available for $21 in advance and if available, for $23 the day of the event. Don’t miss this chance to experience live performances in a venue that melds the visual and musical arts in a relaxed and intimate setting.

The April 21 concert will feature jazz and classical harpist, Motoshi Kosako, principal harpist for the Stockton Symphony Orchestra. Kosako’s latest music innovation is jazz improvisation and composition for the harp. In 2007 he won the second place in the Lyon & Healy International Jazz & Pop Harp Competition and received a “Best of Sacramento” award from Sacramento Magazine who proclaimed, “Kosako plays with a fluid, modern style that evokes Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea.” Petroglyphe Gallery is excited to feature such a talented and visionary musical artist!

Debbie Dare and Joseph GoldThe concert on May 19 will highlight the classically trained violinist and violist, Debbie Dare and violin virtuoso, Joseph Gold. Both musicians hold international reputations and tour widely. Most recently, while in Vienna, Dare and Gold performed the world premiere of the violin & viola Concerto by Kurt Rapf written especially for them. Debbie Dare was first violinist in important state opera orchestras in Germany. Returning to America, she formed the Pro Musica String Quartet which has performed in the musical capitals of the world. Joseph Gold has been praised on four continents for his brilliant interpretations of the great repertoire for violin of the nineteenth-century violin virtuosos of Paganini, Sarasate, Bazzini, and others. Petroglyphe Gallery is honored to host such seasoned musicians and is ready to be dazzled by this internationally recognized duo!
