There are multiple high country campsites along the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway including:

Stanislaus National Forest

Camping is available at Spicer Reservoir on a first-come, first-served basis. To get to the campground, take Spicer Reservoir Road 9 miles off Highway 4. For individual sites, (6 people and up to 2 cars – $5 for each additional car) the cost is $24 per site. Group site fee is $140.00. Amenities include picnic tables, fire places, food preparation area, parking for group use, potable water and vault restrooms. There’s also a primitive amphitheater.

Union and Utica Reservoirs are side by side, north of Spicer Reservoir, and have two campgrounds each. When you take Spicer Reservoir Road off Highway 4, you will get to the turnoff for Union and Utica about half a mile before you reach Spicer. Each reservoir has
