The historic Hotel Léger is so much more than a hotel. It’s the heart of Mokelumne Hill. With its restaurant and saloon, and multiple fun events year round, this is where the whole town gathers to have fun and hang with friends. So when you stay here, you will most likely have the opportunity to mingle with some of Moke Hill’s friendly locals in the saloon, at the restaurant or at a live music or comedy event.

Imagine yourself enjoying this sweet view of Main Street from the balcony of your hotel room, where the scene has barely changed for over 100 years.

The historic rooms at the hotel are charming, not overly designed, but classic, with little antique touches. Some rooms come with their own bathrooms, and others share a bathroom – just like in the 1800s. Part of the charm of these historic hotels is the legends of hauntings, and this hotel is no exception. Pick up a ghost hunting kit at the front desk then feel free to take readings and call on spooks around the premises. It’s fun and…. well, some say, they’re sure they’ve had a supernatural experience.

Charming historic rooms

If you’re a photographer, you’ll find numerous photogenic subjects here – architectural details like classic, fire-proof metal doors, the stone cellar, antique artifacts, and classic Victorian design including lamp shades, furniture and fixtures.

Hotel Léger Restaurant & Saloon

Downstairs you’ll find the restaurant and a classic, western saloon where you can enjoy one of the Leger’s delicious cocktails or local wines and craft beers. The restaurant serves up delicious, creative food with great flavor combinations. Menus change seasonally to incorporate the freshest, local ingredients. Dogs can join you for lunch on the balcony outside. Grab a refreshing drink, cocktail, or a glass of wine and head to the pool shaded by orange trees and gardens for a relaxing place to play, splash and soak up the sun.

You are welcome to wander around the hotel and explore its many mysteries, including the old jail and cellar rooms. The jail was renovated in 2013 by Hotel Impossible, and is now an elegant rustic venue for meetings and small events, while the cellar is mostly untouched, but also makes a fantastic venue for a small celebration.
