The Calaveras Gem & Mineral Show includes everything a rock hound could want from over a dozen dealers offering great values on top quality gems, fossils, and jewelry supplies, to meteorites, lapidary material, and petrified wood. Demonstrations on how to make jewelry, how to knap obsidian to make arrowheads how to facet gems and chain making means you’ll find something to enjoy for everyone in your gang.
Activities for kids include a treasure hunt, pet rock decorating, and quizzes. There are also door prizes, raffles and a silent auction, plus a snack bar with beverages.
This event, held by the Calaveras Gem & Mineral Society, is their big, annual event. However, they also have tailgate swaps twice a year, and are now offering field trips for their members.
