Murphys Historic Hotel, in operation since the famous California Gold Rush and a National Historic Landmark, includes 20 modern and 9 historic rooms located downtown on Main Street. Walk to nearly two dozen wine tasting rooms, enjoy boutique shopping, art galleries, museums, and Murphys’ classic creekside park.
The restaurant decor was recently overhauled by Gordon Ramsay’s Hotel Hell, and was voted Best Restaurant by locals – it’s certainly a favorite of locals and visitors. Wine selections feature local, Calaveras varietals. In warm weather, enjoy your lunch and dinner on the patio overlooking charming, historic downtown. Inside, the saloon has barely changed since the mid-1800s and retains its old west vibe and style.
Keep your ears and eyes open, as the hotel may be haunted! Ask for a tour at the front desk, and you can see where Ulysses S. Grant stayed in the 1800s.
Murphys Historic Hotel is also a wedding/special event/meeting venue.
