Head out of Stockton east on Highway 4, approximately 1 ½ hours South of Sacramento.

DAY 2: 18 holes @ Greenhorn Creek, Angels Camp

18 holes at Greenhorn Creek Golf Course
Greenhorn Creek is an award-winning Robert Trent Jones, Jr. redesigned championship golf course located in the Sierra Foothills of Angels Camp, the center of California’s Gold Rush history.  This 6,740-yard, par 72 layout wanders through clusters of 200 year-old oak trees and over a once busy tract of underground gold mines.  Changing elevations along with natural and man-made hazards, such as a stone farmer’s wall, ancient Chinese oven and a variety of water hazards will challenge every golfer’s skill level.

Drive 15 minutes east on Highway 4 to historic downtown Murphys.

Enjoy lunch or dinner in the heart of charming, historic downtown Murphys on the patio at Murphys Historic Hotel Restaurant beneath shady trees in a picturesque setting. Known for its award-winning prime rib, rack of lamb and fried chicken, the Murphys Hotel Restaurant is a favorite of locals and offers pairings with Calaveras wines for each course. Enjoy a self-guided tour of charming, historic downtown Murphys with its nearly two dozen wine tasting rooms, and boutique shops.

Drive just 5 minutes out of town to

Ironstone Vineyards gold

Ironstone Vineyards. Take a guided tour (available daily 1:30 pm – meet in the Tasting Room) of the beautifully manicured grounds and facilities of Calaveras’ largest vineyard. Or take a self-guided tour at your own pace. See the outdoor amphitheater, demonstration kitchen, ballroom with the pipe organ, used for silent movie nights, the massive wine cave and the tasting room and deli. Be sure to also visit the heritage museum with its massive crystalline gold specimen and jewelry store.

Stay the night in the middle of Murphys at The Victoria Inn or get a beautiful room at The Dunbar House Bed & Breakfast which is only a half mile walk from the middle of downtown Murphys.

Day 3: 9 Holes @ Forest Meadows Golf Course, Murphys OR 18 Holes @ Sequoia Woods Golf Club, Arnold

Breakfast at Grounds to start your day fully nourished, or grab a quick, light bite at Aria Bakery in downtown.

Drive 10 minutes east on Highway 4

Forest Meadows Golf Course: A 9-hole course surrounded by spectacular giant pines, great oaks, towering cedars and running creeks – creating an idyllic setting for a round of golf.  Perfect for every level of golf fan.

Or drive 10 minutes more on Highway 4 to Arnold

Sequoia Woods Country Club: An 18-hole course in a beautiful mountain setting bringing golfers challenging play and fabulous views. The course was designed by well-known architect Bob Baldock, and the par 70 course is suitable for all levels of players.

Play golf in the morning, then drive to Dorrington to The Lube Room for an amazing burger, then drive back to Calaveras Big Trees State Park to walk the 1.5 mile loop through the big giant trees.

Enjoy a great dinner at Sequoia Woods Country Club and stay for live music that’s usually booked on the weekends. Or, for make reservations at Sarafina’s Italian Kitchen where you can choose to sit in the cozy dining room next to the fireplace or out on the patio looking up at the stars surrounded by the pines.

Stay the night in Arnold at the Timberline Lodge or the Meadowmont Inn where you can relax after a great day on the links. Looking for another bed and breakfast? Arnold Black Bear Inn will definitely take care of you, probably even pamper you a bit.

Final Day

Breakfast at Heart & Soul Country Kitchen before heading back down the mountain. Play 18 holes at La Contenta Golf Club in Valley Springs – honored by Golf Digest and continues to improve as one of Northern California’s best public/semi-private golf clubs. This championship course features rolling terrain, beautiful vistas and wonderful course layout to make your round a total joy.

Before you head back home, stop at Hawg Dawgs for artisan dogs and burgers in a fun atmosphere.
