Calaveras Big Trees – Guided Hikes & Snowshoeing

Calaveras Big Trees State Park
North Grove Trail at Calaveras Big Trees | Dave Bunnell

Enjoy the beauty and grandeur of the park while learning about why this place is so special. Guided hikes through the North Grove are offered Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. This 1.5 to 2 hour hike is free with your paid admission to the park. Grab some water and meet near the Warming Hut. Make sure to use the restrooms at the trailhead as there are none on the trail. In the event there is enough snow in the park, this will be a snowshoe hike during the winter. Some snowshoes are available for use on a first come, first served basis. Snowshoes are available for rent in Arnold located three miles west on Highway 4 at Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods and Sierra Nevada Adventure Company.

This concert will be held in the Alhambra Music Room at Ironstone Vineyards, an intimate setting for music that will make your heart and soul dance and sing. Limited seating available. Purchase tickets here.

Moaning Cavern Cave Tours

Moaning Cavern Adventure Park
The walk tour | Menka Belgal

Choose your adventure! Moaning Cavern offers two tours for different levels of adventure seekers! The Spiral Chamber Tour leads visitors on a tour into the marble deposit of the Calaveras Formation over 165 feet before funneling into smaller passageways. Visitors may view the cavern’s main chamber by walking and climbing the narrow wooden staircase to a flat platform 65 feet underground. For the truly athletic and adventurous, from there, a ten story spiral staircase leads down to a second platform at the base of the chamber. Or, the Expedition Tour is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Most areas are undeveloped, so there are no lights, stairs, or walkways. Instead, visitors daringly explore by climbing and belly crawling with lighted helmets to show the way! Online Reservations are required for the Expedition Tour at least 48 hours in advance and is open to those 12 years and older. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
