Event Details

ONE cast, TWO shows! Join us on Saturdays in June for our 3rd Annual Shakespearience double feature starting at 7 p.m. inside the Metropolitan. You’ll be entertained by the uproarious comedy, Superstition, which unfolds backstage at a community theater producing Macbeth. The actors are thrown into chaos when the stage manager accidentally utters the name “Macbeth” outside of the play, which everyone knows is strictly forbidden! Despite the stage manager’s attempts to break the curse with spinning, spitting, and swearing, strange occurrences start to unfold. Props vanish, accidents happen, and the lead actor breaks a bone! Armed with sage, rabbit’s feet, horseshoes, clovers, and a box of Lucky Charms cereal, the cast bravely navigates through the performance amidst the obvious curse.

Following the comedy, head down to our scenic creek-side park, where you’ll see the same talented actors, under the expert direction of Kristopher Mandell, perform an abridged version of Shakespeare’s renowned tragedy, Macbeth. This tale follows a Scottish general, Macbeth, who, driven by ambition and the prophecies of three witches, murders King Duncan to seize the throne, plunging into tyranny and paranoia, which ultimately leads to his downfall.

We are thrilled to be pairing a comedy/play-within-a-play about Shakespeare’s work with an actual production of the referenced piece. It offers our actors a unique opportunity to truly showcase their talents. We sincerely hope you enjoy both of these performances!
